Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie β who inherited the toy collection when he left for college β receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
