Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the state, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both areas.
